I just bought a rifle from a non FFL holder here on gunbroker. My FFL is under the impression that the seller must send it through an FFL to him. Is this true? Or are rifles okay to send from non-FFL to FFL? Please include where to find proof to back up your reply, it's not that I don't trust you, it's that my FFL needs hard evidence.Thanks-

Your shotgun was made by The Crescent Fire Arms Company, in Norwich, CT. The H.D. Folsom Arms Company of New York owned Crescent.
Cruso was a trade name used by the H. & D. Folsom Arms Company on guns made for the Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett Company of Chicago.
Crescent made many, many thousands of inexpensive "hardware store" shotguns in more than a hundred different tradenames for hardware store chains, mail order houses (such as Sears and Montomery Ward), and distributors (such as Folsom).
While the Crescent-made guns were of the less expensive variety, they were, nevertheless, well-made guns.
If you're thinking of shooting it, be aware that Crescent manufacture spanned from the blackpowder era into the smokeless powder era. You should take it to a gunsmith to determine whether this a blackpowder or smokeless powder gun. Also, as with any old gun, it should be checked out by a gunsmith for tightness and safety before shooting.
Hope this helps....and enjoy your Crescent. [:)]

? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.
They Made the Model 53, .22 L.R.R.F., Single Shot, Takedown, Bolt Action Rifle...and the Model 90. Single Shot Shotgun, Takedown, Automatic Ejector, Hammer, Plain....
Now I realize That CRESCENT FIRE ARMS CO.,of Norwich, Conn., c.1892, was purchased by H&D FOLSOM in 1893, and absorbed by Stevens Arms and Tool in 1926...Which was absorbed by CUMBERLAND ARMS CO. Made by CRESCENT for Hibbard-Spencer Bartlett Co., HIB SPE BAR --- Abbreviation and Trade name used by Hibbard Spencer, Bartlett Company of Chicago, Ill.Also keep in mind that STEVENS ARMS absorbed PAGE-LEWIS ARMS COMPANY, DAVIS-WARNER ARMS COMPANY AND THE WHOLE KIT AND KABOOTLE WAS OR BECAME A SUBSIDIARY of SAVAGE in 1936...So my question is...Who actually made this gun for CRUSCO? And as far as I know Hibbard Spencer Bartlett was an Arms Dealer and Not a Manufacturer.....I'm going Fishing Now...and will check back this evening Late to see what Rufe-Snow and the troops have to say about this information.......

If memory serves, Savage purchased Stevens in 1920. Even though firearms were made and sold under the Stevens name until the 1940's, Savage was really the big Kuhuna who ran the show.
When Stevens "absorbed" Folsom/Cresent Arms in the 20's, They might have continued manufacturing "CRUSO" shotguns for H S B?
