I recently bought a model 36 S&W, fully gold plated, fully engraved, with pearl grips. The gun appears to be nearly perfect. How can I learn of this gun's value? I could email numbers and photos to anyone who could help.

Looking for an opinion on this revolver for sale. Can you tell the age by the pictures and would this be a decent deal or a little high?
It's a sweet little gun, with nice grips that you don't see every day. I just don't want to pay too much for it.

I would like to replace the stock hammer on my Model 36 with one of the bobbed style hammers. The original configuration doesn't look like it could be cut down and still operate with the pinned striker. Any suggestions as to replacements? Where one could be purchase from? Thanks.

    Kick it. Don't kiss it.

Picked up a model 36 I have been drooling over last week, thing is in excellent shape and is a true 36 no dashes. I am curious about the trigger pull, this thing seams to have a hair trigger when firing SA. DA seams ok, compared to my Colt Det. Does anyone know on average what the normal pull should be ? Can't tell if anything has been done to it, bet prefer a little heavier trigger than what it has in SA. Thanks for any input.

Was it also made with a 4" barrel?

There's an easy question: Look at your sales receipt; THAT is the value.Seriously, unusual guns are very difficult to estimate. If you tried to sell it tomorrow, you might get twice what you paid for it, or only half. The "value" is what a seller is willing to pay on any given day.If I were you, I would write to S&W to try to get documentation that (hopefully) the gun was customized by the factory. That would certainly enhance the value, and they could tell you their current charge for this treatment. If someone else customized it, I don't think anyone can even roughly estimate the value.Neal

There are 3 different S&W model #36. According to the S&W blue book, The #36-cheif's special which without the gold plating ranges from $145 at the low end to $295 at the high end. The #36-target ranges from $350 at the low end to $850 at the high end. The #36-ladysmith ranges from $150 at the low end to $385 at the high end. Again, all pricing is without the gold plating. Hope this helps.
