In less than a month it will have been 36 years since I saw 14th Aerial Port in the "rear view mirror" of the Freedom Bird...In '96 I had a chance to "go back" but wasn't ready...Has anyone here actually made the trip and if so any input would be appreciated. I ain't gettin' any younger and it seems like something that I still might want to do, but not sure. If you have been back, have thought about it, or have no desire your input would be appreciated.

I was there in 1997 on a business venture for several weeks. Most of the time in Cambodia. A little to young for the war, so I don't have the same outlook on the subject as you guys.

I found the country to be fascinating. The people extremely friendly, and they like Americans very much. They HATE the French.

Nobody wants to think about war over there anymore. Everyone just wants a comfortable life, and to be able to make enough money to do so. One thing that helps them make money is our tourism, and they welcome it.

I got to travel through the cites, mountains, and remote jungles and villages with Military escort, so it was not a bus tour. You guys left some awesome bomb craters...LOL!

I got to see the beauty, the good side of that place, and it changed my life. Makes you appreciate what we have here in America. I feel for the suffering of the South Vietnamese and Cambodians. I saw the killing fields and a high school turned into a concentration camp (more like an execution facility) in Phnom Phenn.

I think if you go, take a kid along so they can get a real grip on what life can be, and what it's really all about.
