I'll start it off...please add some pics of your own. Here's a couple that I have...I know, bad finger placement...but at least the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction. How I wish I could be that young again[;)]

ECC: Never figured trigger finger placement much counted in war. Maybe I am old and not up on regs as now in war. War time trigger fingers
kept one alive. Granted , I dont have my finger on the trigger as I was
not on the line at this time till the next day. But I will leave you guys alone.

Thanks for sharing the pic...which one are you...the guy on the left? If you don't mind me asking, how old are you now? I had the honor of meeting a WWII vet at the VA center not too long ago, and he was 94...I think his wife was 92. ...and please do not "leave us alone". We enjoy your presence on the board!

this was taken on the USMC birthday just after the NOV 04 offensive
to re-take Fallaujah,.. the Marines where kind enough to share with
the army units that where there,..we each got 2 beers and 1 shot of
rum,..im the big ugly guy on the right

    P1000773.jpg

this seems to be the only other picture i have where i am not
flipping off the guy thats taking the picture,...which is pretty
unbeliveable because that day we had to walk all over this field
looking for a pile of rockets,...and you can imagine with all that
$#!+ i had to wear i was not happy about it.

    P1000424.jpg

joeaf1911a1,.. it is a honor to have you around,. you will always be
welcome where ever i am.and that is a great picture,.. i wish i
could get my hands on that Thompson and carbine.i read your other
post here about the equipment we have now,..heres my take:

the boots i have on in the above picture are very very comfortable,.
they almost feel like sneakers when you first put them on

the personal body armor,..although it is mostly the wrong color,
..heavy,..hard yo run and move around in,..it saved alot of lives.

as far as weapons,..im luging around a belt fed 5.56mm M-249,..which
is a great little monster of a machine gun,...but in to small of a
caliber,..i would much rather have something in .308,..especially
there,..the little 5.56 is fast and accurate,..but bounces off of
    everything.

the food was made by civilian contractors,.. so belive it or not the
army cooks had it on easy street while they where there. the food
was ok,...kind of like cafeteria food

the mre's are better now-a-days,..but just about everyone still
steers clear of them unless there is nothing else

ciggerets where easy to find over there but we had to buy them,..no
big deal. interesting what you learn from the locals when you sit in
the shade and share a smoke with them (i learned to curse fluently
in arabic,..which came in handy because most of the locals thought i
was Iraqi or at least Arabic,..i never had to tell any of them to do
    something twice [;)])

as for booze,..well officially it was a no-no,..but give a Iraqi kid
20 bucks and they will find you whatever you want un-opened and
    still cold

id love to sit down with you sometime and hear some of the stories
from back then,.. but you are right,.. it is only the dates and
    places that change.
