Gun-rights groups undeterred by attacks
Say fewer gun laws would help protect public in D.C. area
Responding to calls by some lawmakers and anti-gun groups for more gun
control in the wake of a series of sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C.,
area, gun-rights organizations say public safety would be further endangered
if more restrictive gun laws were implemented. "Banning more guns or
registering them, via so-called 'ballistic fingerprinting,' won't help make
people safer," said Eric Pratt, communications director for Gun Owners of
America, which is based in Springfield, Va. "Gun bans for sure are
ludicrous," Pratt said. "Whoever the [D.C.-area] shooter is, he's already
broken more than a dozen federal and state laws, many of them gun-control
laws. Adding another one to the list won't make a difference." "The
shootings are going on in an area that is notorious for having
'victim-disarmament laws,'" said Aaron Zelman, executive director of Jews
for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. "This whole situation shows the
failure of gun-control schemes, with their false promise of, 'Government
will protect you, and you will be safer.'" Pratt agreed, saying Washington,
D.C., was a virtual "gun-free zone." "They've tried complete gun bans, and
subsequently have seen murder rates skyrocket," said Pratt.

I wonder if any of those morons who preach gun control are looking at the statistics. After every gun control passage, crime rate rises. After the passage of CCW in state, it drops. Coincidence??

NO!!! Because laws do not control criminals. Fear does.

quick Question about the "finger printing" Are they serious? What about custom barrels, or replacement barrels? Am I going to have to report with all of the weapons I own and all of the barrels in my possesion to get them Finger printed? I think they should really look at the logistics of what they want before they say anything, Especially about a idea that WON'T WORK!

Here in NY we already have ballistic fingerprinting on all new handguns sold in the state,Manufacturers of handguns are suppose to send a spent case and the projectile along with the pistol so it can be submitted to State Police Crime Lab for storage and data. Our fine Gov. Pataki implemented this law 2 years ago, heres the fun part, lets say the pistol has no case or bullet sent, now it's the dealers responsibility to make sure it gets to the lab for test fire sounds like fun hey? Now here is the stupidity of the law, anyone can order another bbl from where ever and have it changed in a matter of moments with no possibility of being traced (projectile wise) they never figured on that? makes sense? this is what we are dealing with folks people that have no clue on what they are doing.

Pappy, I read somewhere (and If I can find it, I'll post it it) that the fingerprinting in NY and some other state hasn't help catch one single criminal....... true?
