Letter from Brady

savage303savage303 Member Posts: 29 ✭✭
Yesterday I got a letter from Mr. Jim Brady. He says he is really angry with the NRA. Well I am truly sorry that he got shot by a crazy nut, but I couldn't agree with his six page letter. The letter consists of baseless facts stating incidents such as Columbine phsyco's buying weapons from gun shows using the "Gun Show Loop Hole", and DC area sniper case etc. Along with the letter there were several prepared letters urging us to send these to various legislators, just like the one's I send to gun lobbyists.
The irony of this is that when Mr.Brady & Pres. Reagan got shot I was about hundred yards away and most of the DC area sniper shootings happen less than 5 miles from my home. One poor lady got shot just walking distance from my house at a gas station. I drove pass that gas station 20 minutes before the shooting, on my way to work. Heh, it could have been me!![8)]

Can some body tell me why anti-gun lobbyist send me these kinds of letters eventhough I have been a NRA member for about 18 years. Don't you think that they are wasting their time.? In a way I am glad I got that letter because now I know their strategies and I could counter-act by playing the same game.[;)] Without our freedom to own fire arms United States will be just another wimpy country like France!

I sleep at night without worrying about my family, because I have "tools" to protect them.

    Dear Mr. Brady:

While I regret that you've suffered greatly at the hands of an armed fanatic, I must point out to you that life is neither inherently fair, or risk-free. To advocate the suppression of the rights of many because of the actions of a few---a VERY few, in fact---bespeaks of a rather short-sighted and childish conception of the way the "world" should "work". True, you have been injured, and in an abominable and irreparable fashion, but this in no way entitles you to call for the restriction of other people's liberties solely from the actions of one person, and solely as balm for your injured soul. Only a child would insist that the whole of society be changed in order to satisfy his sense of justice, yet this appears to be precisely the path you insist on following in your campaign to place more and more restrictions on law-abiding firearms owners who have done nothing to you personally. As a member of that society---a law-abiding, peaceful American who wishes only to enjoy collecting and shooting firearms as an important part of my country's cultural heritage---I would deeply appreciate it if you would somehow manage to mature in your outlook sufficiently to cease pressing your agenda upon those of us who do not agree with it.

    Thank you very much.

Well worded, I guess. Though my style is a bit different when engaging in writing letters, I figure the reason for that is because they aren't listening, so I have to make my point a little differently. The way to do this is implication of these individuals being the parallel of things like czars, fuhrers, the Gestapo, or tyrants. When I receive responses, they get the message, although they aren't too happy with me and many times do not agree with me (then I make their response public knowledge and embarass them with their own words).

As a debater, I am second to none, at least so far. I always walk away having the last word (as if any of you couldn't already tell), and I do not fall victim to childish responses meant to silence me on contingent clauses such as this:

"Now reply to this so you can show us all how stupid you really are."

Translation: This is a desperate attempt at silencing you. I cannot handle the truth, so it is my hope that you fall for this childish and idiotic method of suppression and show us your lack of conviction and inevitably, your lack of intellect in this issue by not responding. Please, debate this no further.

I call my method "Aggressive Diplomacy".

    Death to Tyrants!!!

Remember how many seats were lost after AWB passage? Vae victis!
Those who would offer any interpretation that would relegate Amendment II to "relic" status of a bygone era are blatantly stating that the remainder of the Bill of Rights isn't worth a damn, either.

Nice response TR, who could argue with pure logic such as this? Oh yea, any liberal. (thank you)
And Gunny, while they are sending you this propaganda, keep in mind that they have just wasted time and money:-)

    Friends:

Feel free to use all or any part of what I wrote above in replying to the Brady Gang or any of their ilk. I wrote it in response to what I feel is an irrational, almost-Kintergardenlike attitude on the part of people like Brady & Co. who almost seem to feel that the entire world should be padded with gauze because they got a skinned knee. The real agenda, to be sure, behind the Bradys' nonstop puling about gun-control is to move America toward a more Socialist structure, while presenting a faux front that it's a matter of "safety". The only good thing about this otherwise sorry situation is that they've managed to fool fewer people with their brand of patent nonsense than they'd hoped---hence the recruitment drive.

trstone: that was one great letter. the only reall poignant item that could be added is the fact that in other public quotes of Jim Brady he has stated that we should all rely on the police to protect us. I don't know how well that works for a family living far out in the county with the closest deputy sheriff 30 minutes away, but someone should remind Jim Brady that if he believe in having professionals and only professionals protect us, what about the fact that he and Pres. Regean had several "professionals" (i.e. the armed secret service) ALL AROUND BOTH OF THE SHOT VICTIMS. Lot of good it did them.

When guns were invented everything changed. For the first time in the history of the world a frail woman had a chance to sucessfully defend herself and home. My dream is that one of the anti-gun nuts will need a gun for defense and be unable to have one because of their own actions.

It's not in the police' job description to protect anyone. Their job is to enforce the law. And we all know they show up after everything is all over with, anyway.

    Excellent point, tr fox!

Now that psycho Hinckley is given visiting rights I wonder who he will shoot next. If he ever shoot somebody again, I bet Brady Bunch will blame another "Saturday Night Special" not who pulled the trigger!!

Oh, by the way check this site of the Brady Bunch!

    http://www.agoodfight.org/firefacts.asp

Could you please look at the "FIREARM FACTS" and let everyone know the how they are manipulating the "Facts" please.

You know what I see when I check those pages ???(bradys)I see, well organized agendas, media etc. They use emotion to gain votes by using victums.WHY doesn't NRA or us or someone do the same???Why doesn't someone get statements and publish the all over where firaarms have helped?why is it so hard to find firearm facts to fight our side of this battle? Why isn't the nRA,and the GOA and others monitering this and other sites as you KNOW the other side is???WHY???
