Something worse will TRY to come next. But I hope the 64 million gun owners in this country will remember how we dropped the ball in 1993 and this time we will fight like he!! to make sure another and worse semi-automatic ban never happens.

We must all do our part as individuals.

Out of curiosity, when September 14 comes, what specifically will I be able to DO or BUY that I cannot DO or BUY today?

Its not what you can buy, its the application of what you can buy thats important!!!! some high cap mags will be substaintialy cheaper!!! no pre-ban this or that on american made firearms. no restrictions on folding stocks or collaspiable stocks on american made firearms, and no such thing as L>E>O. parts or mags. except full auto!!! BEST OF ALL, YOU JUST ACHIEVED A FREEDOM BACK, ANTI- GUNNERS HAVE TO START ALL OVER AGAIN. it is up to us to maintain this FREEDOM, and not let it be chipped away again!!! It may not mean much to you as a traditionalist gun owner, but to me , IT is very important to keep the SECOND AMENDMENT INTACT!!!! I dont mean you personally woundedwolf, but i do mean the non supportive or the OHH WELL SO BE IT !!!

This is what is going to happen. Sometime next year there is going to be an incident or three where some whacko is going to shoot a bunch of people etc. and then the republicans and the democracts 'will just have to do something' and we will get both sides enacting more draconian laws to protect us. You really don't think the repub are really more in favor of the 2nd than the demos. It is just tactics to keep us in check because the frog will jump out of the hot water. So one heats it up slowly, the frog stays in until it is COOKED. Read what Attorney Kopel says about the supreme court rulings that pertain to the 2nd, especially the part where one of the Justices all but asked that a 2nd Amendment case be brought to them and then ask yourself, Just what is it that the NRA is or is not doing.

why is the NRA the only person/group/organizatin expected to bring the 2nd amendment before the supreme court?

This may not apply to any posters here, but it irks me that so many people bad-mouth the NRA as a do-nothing organization and they also refuse to belong to it, but then some of them criticize the NRA for not doing enough. If they had more PAYING MEMBERS, they could DO MORE.

tr fox the NRA is the organization that claims to protect the 2nd. So far all they have done is put bubble gum in the leak. The congress is going to continue to pass illegal gun laws until it told these laws are illegal. A court case is going to cost a lot of money. The NRA collects money from us members to fight guns laws. It is way past time for this matter to get before the supreme court. The NRA has a number of lame excueses for not doing this. This IS the court to take this to. There will never be another court this conservative! And the stage has been set for a favorable ruling.
This is not an issue of needing more paying members this is an issue of dereliction of duty on the part of the NRA. And I must point out that Gun Owners of America also needs to get involved in paying for this court action. In case no one has been paying attention, when we defeat an attack we do not win anything we just maintain the status quo. When we do not defeat an attack WE LOOSE! And the Constitution is weakened. There is nothing for us to win. We can only keep what is there. AND WE ARE LOOSING!!!

Salzo, I have been unable to refind the article I was referring about. It is possible that I was confussing 2 different articles. I did find articles by David Kopel that I had not previosly read. A couple of links are below.

I think you will see that the stage is ready for a Supreme Court case. Over time the court will only become more liberal and left wing. When I look at what has been happening in our country I see that over the decades it does not matter which party is in office. National Debt goes up, taxes go up, the ultra rich get richer, the poor get a partial bone, and the middle class pays for it all, and as we drift closser to socialism we loose more and more of our rights. When I look at those socialistic democratic allies of ours I see the ultra rich still controlling their government, getting richer while the middle class drifts away and the people live under a very, very, but none the less a totalitarian government. And the NRA doesn't take the second to court. If it does not get done now it never will. mcaso

I've been noticing a disturbing trend in the country.

The Federal viktim disarmament scheme has finally failed. Looks like the matter is being left in the hands of the states.

If there is a bright side to this, it could begin to single out people throughout the states and get then ejected from office. I wouldn't look for this to happen in the states that have already passed AWB's of their own (Kalifornia, Neu Yorkk, New Jerky, Taxachussetts, Marxland, Illinoi, or Hawaii), as they've had their chance to do a power base shift, and I am still to the opinion that an Exodus must occur in order to isolate and strengthen our numbers in the smarter states of the nation, and leave the liberal cowards to die the death of a coward in a land where no one will save them, and they will not save themselves.

TR, the NRA is not a do-nothing group. They did a lot of stuff. They gave us the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986. As a result of the FOPA of '86, I can't license a full auto made after that date. So when I am forced to pay $13,000+ for the MP5K-PDW I want, I will remember all of these things the NRA did to me.

If the NRA makes an attempt to pass GCA II or FOPA II and come after the machine guns which are already legally owned, I'm glad to say they won't be doing it with my money.

Everyone, Have it your way for all I care. But I don't need to listed dozens of dates, bills, actions, mistakes, shortcomings in a complicated effort to continue this argument. The NRA (and every single organization and person on this planet) is not perfect. Never has been, never will be..

But I only need to know one thing for me to maintain my NRA membership, honor their requests for money, and make the phone calls, send the letters, sign the petitions, spend my time doing volunteer work, when they ask me. All I need to know is the ALL the media people and the anti-gun politicians and anti-gun groups credit the NRA for stopping or slowing the loss of ALL of our gun rights.

It is ok for you to not want to help the NRA. He!!, Sara Brady feels the same way. But PLEASE don't become so much like her that you go so far as to wish and cause harm to the NRA. In any situation as complex as the NRA, gun rights, etc. without "knowing" I can tell you that I know that there are a lot of things we don't know that might change your mind.

    JMHO, do as you please.
