Some will die in hot pursuit

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

That school shooting sealed 594's fate. Thankfully whoever wins Yakima County Sheriff will not enforce it..both candidates said they wouldn't. .as did the new DA. 594 will do nothing to prevent crime. Say goodbye to Facebook & Northwest firearms trading pages except for ammo unless you want use a FFL. The recall efforts should start but doubt they would unseat many in King County.

I should retitle my thread because it really is a loss for personal freedom. Not being able to privately sell personal goods. The precedent it sets is disturbing. And to think it was all predicated on a perpetrated myth of a nonexistent loophole.

The Cascade Sportsman's Club semi monthly gun show will be a thing of the past. We've got a show coming up the first Saturday of December, I don't know when the law takes effect, but, I imagine that will be the last one. It's a shame, we donate around $2,500 a year to the local food bank, plus hundreds of pounds of food. We donate all the door proceeds.

I do and it's hard to tell who's who. Some people have a strong southern drawl like me, some wear cowboy boots and hats and look the part, but aside from stuff like that it's hard to pick out the first class citizens.

I would say with the new law any gun show before it takes hold will be a sellers market ,Its sad it had to happen with the law that's causing it but I imagine there will be a big rush to get under the wire with what ever that can grab , do not blame the folks just a sad fact when people are about to loose a freedom .

The point didn't escape me. The problem is the appreach is too indiscriminate. There are pockets of valuable conservatism that would unnecessarily be eliminated. The SAF, for example, is in Bellevue. Much of the peninsula is conservative, as is east Redmond and the Snoqualmie river valley and north of there.

Nobody there at all that's an FFL? I know it sucks to have to use one but it's either that or have to drive 100 miles to a WAC show? Btw I still cannot find out if this law will have any bearing on pre 1898 guns.

You don't believe that $100,000,000 was spent on a Carolina Senate seat out of a burning desire to serve the public? It has always been about power, the only thing changing is what it costs to buy politicians.

Just to give folks some idea, now we won't be able to loan a family member a gun to hunt with unless you go through an ffl.

According to this website, that's an exception to the law unless it was changed.

    http://wagunresponsibility.org/about-594/

Reasonable Exceptions - background checks are not required for:

    Gifts between immediate family members
    Antiques and relics
    Temporary transfers for self-defense
Loans for lawful hunting or sporting activities

terms are not well defined in it. But for example, I frequently hunt with my brother in law... not immediate family. What's more. Say two buddy's go shooting. It will be a Felony* to shoot your friends pistol, unless you go through an ffl for the transfer prior. And then back again when you hand it back.

*EDIT: just re-read the measure to check that fact. It is only a gross misdemeanor for the first offense, felony for a subsequent offense.

yes, if that were an actual exception. The website info is from proponents of the measure and they have been blatantly lying about what it actually says.

Does the bill require 100% registration? If not how are they going to know who owns what?

This is the Bloomberg supported model law. I don't like it a bit.

But here in Colorado, the majority of county sheriffs have said they will not enforce it.

To my knowledge, there have been no prosecutions. And very few reported private transfers.

But it certainly messes with gun rights.... for example, there are hunting exceptions for relatives but not for other back country activities. Can't lend a gun to a hiker or cross country, or ATV rider entering bear, lion, or marajuana grow country!

Also the exceptions apply to official ranges and events.... but a heck of a lot of shooting is done in just plain rural settings.

We have also had incidences where no local FFLs would perform the private BGCs....recently reported in Fort Collins.

    ==================================================

I am making this edit to add a link written on the Wash Arms Collector site. Quite revealing. Some of this got passed in Colorado too.

The Sherriff thing is the same way here in Washington, our Sherriff and most of the surrounding counties have said they won't enforce it.

The voters just made it a criminal act to loan your buddy your rifle while you are target shooting on your private property. Open mass civil disobedience will rule the day. It's completely unenforceable. But I doubt that it's going anywhere soon.

Enacting I-594 will only accomplish two things, first it will
push private gun sale deeper into the shadows and allow those
who should not have a firearm easier access. Second, it confirms
that big money can and will buy an election. (now that they have
tasted blood, they will be back)
