are the "Herter's dies" a standard size thread that will fit my RCBS press? thanks, joe

    No! You can buy a adapter that will allow you to use them in a standard press.

    Yes. 7/8-14 they all are. I have several that I use in my Rockchucker. Waiting for the ol' man to give up the Herters press. That is one solidly built piece.

    Herters dies were standard 7/8"x14 thread as of 1962. Are yours older, Peary?

    Their shellholders were their own design but adapters are available if you have a Herter's press.

    RCBS often gets the credit, but it was the old Pacific Gun Sight Co. that started the move to 7/8x14 threaded dies and T-slot shellholders. Pacific was taken over by Hornady some time ago.

    Peary must be thinkin' of the ol' Lyman tong dies. They were a smaller diameter die.

    I inherited my Dads old Herter press. There's nuthin stronger.
