I found a 8lb can of Winchester 630 Ball Powder, what's it good for?

Thanks,

Steve

Looked thru my loading manuals with no luck.

I found a can of Win. 630 powder and cannot find any load data in my loading manuals. How far back in loading books do I need to go?

    Thanks,

    Steve

According to a burn rate chart WW630 falls between WW571 and Accurate #7 as the closest available references.

The 1976 Winchester loading pamphlet lists 630 as being a "high
energy powder suitable for a variety of pistol cartridges. (and even 45-70...used in factory loadings) Other loading manuals of that vintage might have loads listed as well....the powder was somewhat short lived.

    Make sure you don't have the Win 630 P, {630P }, powder.
It was a mistake that burned faster than Bulleyes. Some listed loads from the early 1970's blew up guns before they pulled it from the market.
