50 BMG Powder question

lksmith03lksmith03 Member Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭✭✭
I am getting components to load my 50 BMG. I have only found 3 powders with load data, they are:

H50BMG
US869
N170

But according to my burn rate chart Retumbo (#110) and H1000 (#109)
fall between N170 (#108) and H50BMG (#115) These seem to be viable alternatives not to mention much more common than H50BMG, US869, and N170.
Has Anybody heard of using powders other than the 3 I mentioned above, and How/Where would I be able to find load data?
Would the powder MFG be able to help?

WC860 is available at patsreloading.com and they are happy to answer any questions you may have if you give them a call.

Are those starting or max loads?
I have seen many say that h-870 and wc860 use the same load data, know anything about that?

Go to www.reloadammo.com/50bmg.htm for more load data.

From www.ammoguide.com, they have 74 loads listed.
Of those they list over 20 each with 20N29 and 24N41 from Vihtavouri. H-50BMG shows 8 loads. These seem to be the most popular powders used by submitting loaders to this website.
Bullet weights range from 600 to 850 grains. With this site, I've noticed that often loads are listed as "maximum" in red and they advise starting lower and working up. I like the site as I can put in various filters such as bullet weight, powder type, etc.
I'm using it right now to get an idea on loading for the 454 Casull, a new addition to the family.
    Hope this helps!
