Any Archery hunters from Idaho?

IdahoRedneckIdahoRedneck Member Posts: 2,699
I know baiting is against the law here (as in a pile of corn underneath your tree stand) But what does it say concerning food plots can you plant one or is that considered baiting? I know I could find out but im being lazy and the beers are going down way to good[:I] sometimes that happens though. Any Idaho bow huntin folk?

    Welcome to the Archery forum.

    Stick around.

    Ben

P.S. Ecc would probably know. He's in the general discussion forum.

Actually, I don't know...but I would not think hunting over a food plot would be considered baiting...just like hunting over any other naturally growing food source.

Hunt any game annimal by means of baiting with grain, salt in any form, liquid or solid, or any other substance-including agricultural water as an attractant, but not by liquid scents-
to constitute an attraction or enticement, with the exception of applicable rules for the black bear. Is that food plot a
"substance"? As usual, you have to be a lawyer with a minor in
geography to hunt this state anymore.

    Sorry, that's "nonagricultural" water!

SO back to the original question...... How I read that...... you cannot make a food plot for the purpose of hunting.......right or wrong?

    edit...

I would say it dont actually say food plot but what is the meaning of baiting...[?]
" not to constitute an attraction or enticement" I guess that means making a food plot would be considered illegal. How do you guys read that[?]

The way I read it, scents are ok for deer and elk, food stuff
for spring bear, but anything else done to attract game annimals
    is against the law.

I never understood their use of "drainages" to define management zones either. I've hunted ridges that I could walk along and switch
management areas a dozen times in less than a mile. Why not something
more concrete like a road, river or such.

Thank you...I'm not familiar with much of the state south of here. I've been as far south as Lewiston...and paddled the Lochsa river...but that's about it.

We've been hunting the central part of the state for quite a few years, wife and I both took our moose just off of the Selway.
Where are you from "redneck"? Know where you are from Eric.
    Beautiful area!!

wait a sec, Ecc did you guys hijack my thread[:D] First time thats ever happened to me. Anyway so makin a food plot for the purpose of hunting in Idaho is Illegal right....... or how do you read that quote from the regs[?]

For what it's worth, I read it as illegal. Thing is if you put
in alfalfa and had it baled once a year, think it would be legal
and it would still attract a lot of annimals.
