Anyone here bowfish? I have an old pse with a reel on it.

Shooting lots of carp. Wanting to get out in the flooded rivers. We get into the big buffalo and freshwater drum.

    Good times.

Does anyone out there bowfish? I was looking at the set-ups at the local Bass Pro, and it looks kind of cool to try out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm going to give it a go. I tried it last weekend with my Mathews, and target arrows. I figured out that carbon arrows float, and it looked like fun, so I tried shootin some carp.

I know we've talked about this before, but does anyone else bowfish?

Not yet but I have been wanting to give it a try also. I just haven't bought the reel and arrows. May actually try it with a traditional type bow.

The guy at my bowshop told me that he could set me up for twenty bones. That seems easy enough to me.

That seems super cheap! I thought reels were more expensive than that.

You can get the ones that are spools where you just reel in by hand.

Shakespeare does make a reel and mount for bows thought that work with the heavier string.

I've been trying to get the boys together to do a 3d shoot in your neck-o-the-woods. Other than that, we can always do a champaign trip, and also everyone is always welcome to come my direction.

    I'm out.

I am getting back into bowfishing. Did it 15 years ago with a traditional rig. From what I have seen slower arrows are better. They seem not to get stuck in the bottom as easily. Even my old Hoyt I had to turn down. I bet my fishing arrows are 180 FPS or less! You don't have to het carp hard to stick. Muzzy makes some great products for bowfishing and I recomend getting them if you want to do a lot of it. Their roller rest seems like a terrible idea, but works well.
