Mathews or Hoyt

DaBowMan18DaBowMan18 Member Posts: 2,962
I hear all you people arguing about mathews are better than hoyts or vic-versa. I want to see want people prefer hoyts and what people prefer mathews. I'm a mathews man, but what about you?

Boy oh boy. I take a week off and this is what happens. Okay, since Dabowman asked the question and seems to swing both ways (with his choice not... ahem "personal prefrence") and since most of the mathews shooters can't seem to do anything more than the typical "me cave man, mathews best" rant without an explaination, [:D] I'll explain why my HOYT is the best bow out there... for me.[:D] I shot several bows before I bought my Hoyt. I loved the way it felt in my hand and I couldn't believe the amount of shock that my bow hand DIDN'T feel when I shot. That sold me. As far as I'm concerned, Hoyt and Mathews are both well made, quality bows. It all boils down to what each person likes. If you like to be like all of the other lemmings and follow the crowd, buy a mathews. If you are a good consumer that likes being a stand-out in the crowd, buy a Hoyt![:D]

Did you shoot a mathews before you bought your hoyt??

I tired a mathews and at least two of my hunting buddies have them. There good bows but I liked the Hoyt better. Plus, I have never been one to go with the crowd. I like to do things differently! It's all about personal prefrence that and I like to give mathews shooters on here a hard time![:D]

I've used them all throught the years, but have never spent the cash to stay up with the latest greatest. I let you boys do that and then buy them used for a lot less. So I'm 2-3 years behind you. I have an old bow that draws 102 pounds (set on Max) that is absolutely deadly. But my 70 lb mathews FX is so easy to use in my stand that I take it most of the time. My favorite bow I killed a deer with years ago was a bear 70 lb recurve, it was just plain fun.

You boys play with the hobby and I'll but your left overs and just keep on killing critters.

You can pay 700$ for a Mathews or 700$ for a Hoyt and still not be shooting worth shizzle. Shoot alot of different ones and pick the one that suits you best.
I shoot a 5$ PSE. Yep won it with a raffle ticket in 1998. I could of picked other bows from the shop but this one fit me right and was set up perfect for what I needed. I shoot with guys who own 3 and 4 Hoyts ,Mathews, Parkers, High Countrys they ask me why I don't shoot groups ? ?..... "I'm just tired of replacing nocks and arrows, gets expensive ya'know"

I shot a Hoyt FastFlite for 12yrs, bought a AR31 last year, it was time for a change. I love the AR, smooth and quiet. My daughter went from Hoyt to Bowtech, son-in-law loves the Hoyts. He's also the best shooter out of the 3 of us, not by much though.

I personally shoot Hoyt and have for several years. I have shot each mathews that comes out and for whatever reason I personally shoot the Hoyts better and they feel better to me. I actually have a brand new in the box Mathews Q2 sitting in the closet that hasn't been set up or shot. I put a bid in to help out with a friend's charity event and won it. I think I'm going to give it away to a buddy of mine that wants to start bowhunting but doesn't have the money to spend on a bow at the moment.
I'm planning on hitting the pro shops in the near future to try the new Trykon and I imagine it will come home with me.
I'll have to admit that the switchback felt pretty good when I shot it last year but still not as good to me as the Vtech. I imagine the Trykon will shoot even better but we'll have to see.
To each his own, some of my best friends are loyal mathews shooters and one competes against me and shoots for mathews. I prefer hoyt.
