black powder basics?

iwannausernameiwannausername Member Posts: 7,131
Buddy just called me, he just got a 50 caliber black powder pistol.

I'm looking for a basics tutorial I can print out for him (he has no 'net access).

He hit a local farm/hunting store, and has some powder, caps, and "expensive" bullets - I think the sales guy sold him some sabot type loads since they were $15 for 25 ...

He's also interested in casting his own lead balls.

So... whats available for me to print for him so he can start his shooting safely?

A good place to start might be the most often overlooked and thats the user manual. My traditions pistol came with a manual that contained all the info you need to know to shoot safely. If his gun didnt come with one he can contact the manufacturer and they will send him one free of charge.
