pyrodex rs in 32 cal rifle?

travis3travis3 Member Posts: 341 ✭✭✭
Was wondering if anyone has tried pyrodex rs in a 32cal squirrel rifle. I ran out of the pistol but have 2 lb of RS on hand.

Seems like it would be rather coarse, but it may work. Sure wouldn't hurt to try, as long as you start with a medium load. You won't know until you try.
Pyrodex acts differently than black powder. It may work. Or may not.
Let us know how it turns out.

I will be happy to do so. It may be a month or more before testing. I have gone to other forums and found a couple of postings were it worked for others.

I tried both Pyrodex RS and Pyrodex P in my 32-20 Model 1873 Winchester. A cartridge gun and not a muzzleloader, but the RS actually shot better. Interestingly, had the same results in a 44-40 also. Chronoing, the RS gave a lower velocity than P.

I just only try Pyrodex RS, its gives good results to me. I also read about it on net or some other forums.
