Lee .50 cal Minie bullet mold

Has anyone tried to use the Minie bullet dropped from the Lee .50 cal Minie mold? I have 3 different .50 cal. muzzleloaders, and the bullet is too large to load in any of the three. It would seem that it should be about .490 or so and be easy to load, like the originals, expanding upon firing to seal to the bore. I had hoped to get good performance at cheap-to-shoot prices...

have you measured them? If you only need a few thousandths off you can roll them between two hard steel plates. You don't need to put a lot of pressure on the plates as you roll it, make a few passes then measure it again....

That sounds like it might work! I'll try it at first opportunity. Thanks! And I wonder why I didn't think of that...
