Gas Prices

Yes its really horrible that gas prices are so darn high, But good things are to come. In my opinion american auto makers have been rather laid back and care free to do as they wish. It is about time the government made things a little tighter. You know it may be for the better anyways. If more people start walking or biking the obesity rates just might decline.

I was talking with a Fellow yesterday that is an Executive with GULF OIL,, he was telling me about a memo he recieve a few months ago about the Regulating of the Gas Prices.. First he told me there is NO oil shortage, that out of Alaska every day tankers full are going to Japan.

Anyway, he went on to tell me the Memo mentioned the IRAQ WAR and the building of the BARRACKS in Iraq..And District Managers should see to it that the increases should be as such to insure revenue for the federal Governments budget..

I dont care if you agree with this or not.. that is what the man told me..

Are the gas prices going up in your area too?

Well, I went into the gas station today and asked for five dollars worth of gas.

The clerk farted and gave me a receipt. [:o)]

Prices seem to be steadily falling in WNC. Just bought regular for 3.35 a gallon. Wonder if this trend will continue??

Has anyone else got this yet??
    Sounds like a good idea.

    Dear friends & family,

I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $1.77 for regular unleaded gas in Riverwoods, IL. We all know that we're being screwed by the oil companies. Does everyone remember how they drove up the prices way past a dollar and got the gas prices to where they wanted them, claiming there was a shortage of oil. Well, there isn't any shortage now, and the oil is more abundant than it was 35 years ago when the price of a gallon of gas was 29 cents!!!

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50- $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to at least thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am .. so trust me on this one.)

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you I didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 OR LESS RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK!!!!!!!

PLEASE take a few minutes and pass this on to everyone you know!! If you can't e-mail it to at least ten people, please print out a bunch of copies and hand it out to your family and friends!!

Perhaps the news media will pick this up and run with it

NO MORE MOBIL & EXXON FOR ME!!!!

    Thank you very much!

Well the cost of gas shot up to over $3.00 a gallon in Charlotte, NC due to a new 36 cent additional tax on gas. Glad I live over the border in SC and our gas is still below $2.50. I am guessing that the gas stations around here will see an increase of NC customers.

Ok last week I kept hearing that now prices will fall. So has anybody actually seen the price go down.

All the ones in this area they all just froze the prices and seem to be waiting for the thing to cause prices to go up.

So the talk of ammo going up while the cost of brass and other metals have been dropping got me thinking.

Gas is going back up (over a 30 cent increase here in less than 4 weeks) while it appears oil is falling or staying relatively steady at around $36 a barrel and there is a reported surplus.

Any thoughts on why and how mush has it risen in your neck of the woods?

I read an article a few years back that a select few people in Washington were going to start helping kick prices of gasoline sky high.Once it is at a price that the public starts talking boycott and walking in the street protesting they will start dropping the price until it stops about to $1.80.That is still way too much but it will give the people a false feeling that they are buying cheap gasoline. In 1957 gas stations had what were called gas wars and they would keep undercutting each others prices. For more than a week I was paying 14.9cents a gallon to run my ol 50 Ford. What is the percentage of increase from 14.9 cents to $2.26. If everything we depend on went up in price at the same ratio, we would be livin in a tent and taking a dump in a hole in the ground

it appears that gas prices had alot to do with the recession.
nobody could afford to fill up then take then go anywhere.
right now gas prices are on the rise, President Bush signed in that they could start drilling off shore, I have not been following, to see if drilling ever got started, or did obama put the axe to that.
if/when the gas price take off again, what is it going to do to us next.

Right now, Obama, his supporters, and re-election staff in the liberal media are in full spin/defense mode over high gas prices.
As with everything else that has occured since taking office, the bad news is someone else's fault.

But there are 7 facts that Obama nad his supporters cannot deny - but they will anyway.

    Quote:

President Barack Obama cannot escape the following seven gas-related facts:

    1. In September 2008, Barack Obama's"Nobel-prize winning physicist" of an Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, told the Wall Street Journal: "Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."

    2. In 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama admitted that, like his future Energy Secretary Mr. Chu, he believed that high gas prices would be a good thing because they would force Americans to ween themselves off of oil, but that he would have "prefered a gradual adjustment."

    3. On January 19, 2009, the day before Barack Obama was sworn in as President of the United States, gas prices were $1.84 a gallon. As of February 20, 2012 a gallon of gas cost $3.59.

    4. As Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson points out, "Offshore drilling permits are being issued at less than half the rate of the previous administration. The average number of leases issued on public lands is less than half than during President Clinton's term."

    5. In 2008, Barack Obama seemed perfectly comfortable with soaring energy prices if they meant curbing green house gas emissions. As Mr. Obama confessed: "Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."

    6. As seen in the video below, Obama's own 2008 campaign rallies actually cheered higher gas prices because they would "force us to think about changing the culture to create more emphasis on mass transportation." Following the sustained applause, then candidate-Obama proceeded to laud Europe (not unlike his future Energy Secretary Steven Chu) for its rail system.

    7. Try as he might, President Obama's campaign will try to distance themselves from the fact that a central pillar of Mr. Obama's 2008 campaign was a pledge to reduce the "pain at the pump" caused by high gas prices. However, videos such as the one below reveal the extent to which Mr. Obama promised that, if elected, he would bring down the cost of gas for "everyday Americans."

GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work

This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It ' s worth your consideration.

Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.

quote:Gas prices in Washington and Oregon could rise as much as 35 cents per gallon by the end of the weekend due to tight supplies that are boosting prices, an industry analyst said Wednesday. That could push the average price for unleaded to $4.59 in Washington and $4.56 in Oregon by Sunday.

"I expect stations to increase prices as much as 10-35 cents per gallon by the conclusion of the weekend with some stations starting to raise prices immediately," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst.

Gasbuddy says wholesale gasoline prices, the price stations pay before taxes and freight charges, is at its highest level ever recorded for the Pacific Northwest.

    Gas saving advice

Check gas prices in your neighborhood

DeHaan said the spike will be temporary, but it will take a lot longer for the prices to go down.

"I expect the situation to slowly resolve itself over the next few weeks, but as gasoline prices tend to fall slowly, motorists may not have a sense of real relief until late-June or July," DeHaan said.

Assuming the increase reaches the high-end of DeHaan's prediction, drivers would be paying an average of $4.63 in Seattle, $4.59 in Tacoma and $4.73 in Bellingham by Sunday, based on numbers provided by AAA Wednesday. Portland drivers would pay $4.55 and Medford would pay $4.63.

Compare that to the current national average of $3.68 a gallon.

The news comes the same day benchmark crude lost $1.95 to $89.90 in New York trading. Oil has plunged 15 percent in May as investors predict that the European economy will continue to slow.

GasBuddy operates SeattleGasPrices.com and over 250 similar websites that track gasoline prices at over 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada.

AAA, a trusted source for gas price information, is warning they are not getting the same information gasbuddy.com is reporting. In fact, they expect prices to stay steady or even drop slightly over the weekend.

In my area we will jump to about $4.75 -$4.90 tommorrow.

GASOLINE has gone up $.50 a gallon in the last 2 days . The front page of todays paper state STATES LOOK FOR GOUGERS How far and hard do they have to look[V][:(!]Every station but one I checked 10 of them went up within 2 Hours of each other. I don't think they all got a shipment of gas in this time frame. One guy did not go up until his new shipment came in today I asked him about it and he stated HE NEVER raised prices until his price went up said his shipment was projected to be in about 2 weeks out but when every one but him went up he had a run on his station and sold out quicker then expected . His station was sold out for over 5 hours but he did not change price on original supply I will buy gas from him from now on.

Your thoughts on this. From another forum.

quote:Suspect pump prices are going to decline fairly steeply the second half of this 2012.

Right now cheapest price on a gallon of 87 in LA near where I live is $4.22. Expecting to see 87 going for around $2.90-something a gallon around here before year end, though

Why the price drop-off? My guess is market manipulation to achieve political ends.

Allies of the current U.S. President will sell their very large positions in the oil futures market and pump prices will ultimately descend as a result.

Voters "on-the-fence" will feel better with gas in the 2 dollar range and think: hey, current administration must be doing something right. They may then proceed to vote the current administration in for another term.

Anyway, the news worth hearing is pump prices will, imho, be substantially lower -- at least for a little while.

    What do you think?
