BOSS settings for Win Laredo

I recently purchased a Winchester Model 70 Classic Laredo LRH in 7mm Mag. Of course there are no manuals etc. included. This rifle has a 26 inch heavy barrel with the BOSS system. There are listed "sweet spot" starting points for this system but I can't find them. I found the manual online, but it refers to an attached list of settings that isn't online. I'm wondering if anyone here has the settings or knows where I can get a copy. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are the settings from Brownings web site and their BOSS settings. They should work for your Winchester as the system is basically the same one. Hope this helps.

If you need more info, go to Brownings web site and type in "Boss settings".

Hello I think the BOSS system has many merits however IMHO no two rifles even of same caliber will have the same setting for their sweet spot. And the sweet spot will be different on your rifle for each brand and weight of bullet you try in it . That is why it is adjustable. if all rifles in 7MM mag had the same sweet spot then Winchester would just install a non adjustable BOSS.

Prior to retirement, I was the Chief Firearms test Engineer at Browning R&D for many years. I did virtually all developmental testing for the BOSS system, over 30,000 rouonds fired.

What Perry Shooter says is absolutely true. That's why the ititial settings are "suggested". I'd start there and go 1/4 turn in either direction and try a 3 shot group. If the group gets smaller, go another 1/4 turn, and so on. If the groups get larger after the first 3 shots, adjust in the other direction.

Although this wasn't published, I shot many, many groups UNDER 1/4 M.O.A., and on a memorable occaision one that measured .0029" center to center, virtually a one holer. All shooting was at 100 yards with factory ammo. The reason the data wasn't published is that some inexperienced shooters might believe they would get the same results with inferior scopes, ammo, etc., and be disappointed with their results.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks to all of you,

I was concerned that the BOSS settings for the Brownings wouldn't be the same since this rifle has a heavy barrel and the harmonics would be vastly different. I understand the adjustments, but the sweet spots are starting points that worked at the factory, which keeps me from having to start at zero and try and find the spot. Thanks for the info RR & L it gives me a place to start. Perry and blacarrow appreciate your input. It looks to be set at around 7 so that may be for heavier bullets, what I was thinking of using.
