The sta is coming out nice, thanks to this board the blueing vame out beautiful. Looks really nice. I have cleaned, scrubbed and polished. Now for the questions

1. I ordered two sets of gun springs for this pistol from Wolfe Gunsprings. The length of the new one is 1" longer, the OD of the new main spring is obviously narrower and the ID is narrower also. I can probably force the spring but is it the right one?
2.How do I get the main spring on the the "button" on the end of the barrel. Tried and tried, wrong spring again?
3. Firing Pin spring has the same issues. Smaller ID and OD, will not fit over the "race" of the firing pin can be forced if necessary.
4. Grease versus oil-> rails? firing pin housing, etc, any good advice on where to grease and where to oil?

Thanks for all your answers in advance. This has been a really fun challenging project. This site has been of great help in my endeaveors.

    Amberjack;
    NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,"force" springs to fit. They either do or they don't. The gun will not function properly with improper springs, and it could seriously damage the gun and/or shooter. If you're spring kits are improperly sized, they either sent you the wrong set or they substituded them. I would check Gun Parts Corp's web site for a spring kit for the Star. I've bought many,many sets from them and, with very few exceptions, got exactly what I needed. Again, DO NOT try to force fit the springs. Return them if possible and search out a proper set.

    Thanks for the help. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. I did not force any parts. I called Wolffe Gunpsrings this morning. They have two sizes of springs for the Star. I got the smaller OD version. Gretchen was very helpful, with part numbers and OD diameters for the springs. Great customer service there. No affiliation/spam.
