virtually all parkerizing on the Remington mfg springfield 03A3 is a greenish color while the smith corona has a mix of green and the real nice ones have a blue/blackish parkerizing- anybody know the difference?

There are many variables in the phosphating process that account for the differences in manufacturers: concentration of salts, temperature, process time, fixative liquid, etc.

Plus, long time exposure to USGI cosmoline & gun oil tend to make parkerizing appear more greenish.

The grey is zinc phosphate. The dark grey/black is maganese phosphate. The green tint is oil/cosmoline.
