S&W model 10 finish

I saw the same model pistol with a very similiar finish as the pistol in this auction. Is that a factory finish and if so anyone know what it is called. Here is a link to the auction

    It looks like it's been Parkerized. I don't recall seeing any modern made S & W's coming from the factory with that kind of finish. They might have put that kind of finish on some police or paramilitary contract guns though?

    No. Armalloy is a high quality after-market finish. The gun to which you have a link has a lesser quality finish, known as Bubba-alloy.

    Not all finishes are alike; S&W does have several matte factory finishes, but not on the M10. You have to know what you are looking at before you buy.

    It may be a spray on finish to hide defects.Beware.
