What is a realistic value of 97-98 % Remington 40 X single shot in 30-06. Walnut stock , blue action , stainless factory heavy barrel. Thank You.

I was going to answer your post this morning when I got up, but wasn't quite sure of the value. On the way to the range I stopped at a local gun store (killing time, my shooting partner was running late) and there sat a single shot Remington 40X, stainless steel barrel and original walnut stock & rail with a Leupold 24X scope in about 98% condition....and in 30.06. Price on it was $999.00.

Too much of a coincidence for me, so I bought the darn thing. So I hope like heck that's a good price for rifle & scope.

The 40X is a nice piece of workmanship. One has been on my wishlist for several years. Further, if you look at Remington.com and price the MSRP on a new one, $2000 plus! So, if it is in good condition, and has not been shot excessively, etc., that looks like a pretty good deal.
