magazine conversions.

i was told at a local gun shop that is illegal to convert my ak that takes single stack 10rd mag to take 30rd hi cap mags. how about converting one rifle that takes high cap mags to take another kind of mag. like converting an ar-10 to take m14/m1a mags orconvert this http://v4.beta.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=117203142 to take m1a mags?

    Your gunshop does not know what they are talking about. Certain rules must be followed, but it can be legally done.

    I thought the AR -10 DID use modified M1A mags.........

    armalite and eagle arms ar-10's do use modified m14/m1a magazines. have met several shooters that have "hogged out" the 10 round receivers free-hand with a dremel tool to take the double stack magazines. compared them to my old norinco and had to look real hard to see the difference.
