Winchester model 70 ??

  I have come across a Winchester 70 featherweight in what I'd call mint condition. It is however taped for a scope; I believe it is a pre 64. Can anyone tell me what this might be worth? Does anyone know how many rifles were made in the first year of production?

  Need more info. Serial number, cal. etc.

  .308, we think the serial 5,000 or 500,000.

  The stock looks beautiful and is checkered. I have heard the checkering was different from the pre to the post 64.
