Before the Army issued 9mm's, I qualified with a Colt 45 in the mid 1980's. I'm trying to find the same type of Colt. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Most of the ones I see were manufacured during WW1 or WWII. Pretty sure mine was a later model. Specifically, I want to purchace the same type with the same U.S. Army markings.
Thanks in advance.

Most of these guns are beat to oblivion, the last ones manufactured at least 50 years ago. However, you can buy a brand new in box replica of that from Springfield Armory. Their GI 45 line allows you to get that pisol, with those features you had on yours. However, they make it in stainless as well if that appeals to you.

Colt does not make the 1911A1 spec anymore, but does make a 1911 WW1 reproduction which is the same gun with different features.

It is a 1911A1 that has mixed parts & has been refinished. It will take some searching, but you should be able to find one either locally, or on the Gunbroker site. Expect to spend around $1,000.
If you find a gun & are not sure what you are looking at, take some photos & post it for these guys, who will be glad to help you out:

Are the pistols listed in those auctions REALLY worth anything like what they apparently want??? 5 grand for the last one? Navy? wow!
