I was reading ambrose's thread about the model 12 16ga, and I also bought a 16ga a few shows back, mine was a little older #381,605. My question is what serial # was the start of the 2 3/4 shells, I have been watching for a used mec loader to load the short shells with no luck so far, so I was thinking of selling my model 12 and looking for one which would shoot 2 3/4, and was just wondering what serial #'s to look for, or were they marked 2 3/4 from then on??

I also use one on my 12 gauge press. Set it up for 3" and then slip in the plate for loading 2 3/4".
Ballistic Products also carries a hull trimmer that's the cat's meow for cutting down 2 3/4" hulls to 2 1/2".

hillbille, any MEC loader set up for 16 gauge will work. All you would need to do is add the "short shell" plate under the shell holder plate.

asphalt, I have been looking for a used 16ga mec for 2 years local, I hate to buy new, I will just put it up for sale and see which comes first a buyer or a used mec...[;)] I am in no hurry to sell and the price will reflect that, I may still find that used mec before I sell the shotgun. I don't buy off the internet and it gives me an excuse to go to the local gun shows.[:D]
