What is the magazine capacity that can be legally sent to a buyer in Mass.?
I thought all magazines had to go through an FFL Dealer in Mass.
Reason I ask is we have a 5rd. H&R 22lr mag that someone in Mass. wants.
He says that the max in Mass. is 10rds.
I just do not want to be on the bad side of the law anywhere.

Your knowledge is very respected.

Unrestricted LTC-A holders in MA are allowed to possess pre-ban standard (ie "high") capacity magazines, and so far as I know there is no specific law against bringing them into the state of MA, either. Nobody else is allowed to posses >10 round magazines, except law enforcement.

AMMO components, and actual GUNS may not be possessed by anyone who doesn't have the appropriate firearms ID card.

So far as I know there is no law requiring MAGAZINES to go through an FFL dealer in MA. In fact, I'm not aware of any restrictions on five round mags at all.

IIWY, I'd ask for a copy of the guys Firearms ID card or LTC. Assuming he has one, he should be legal for a low-cap magazine.

He does have a C&R License.
That should be all that I need.

I always ask on here because you guys have so much knowledge combined.

C&R license is a Federal license, and I believe it is LESS restrictive than MA State law.

In other words, JUST because you have a C&R license DOES NOT mean you are legally allowed to own firearms in the State of MA! You still need an MA firearms ID or LTC. That's why I specified the copy of his MA FID or LTC.

But that's more his problem than yours. You're not shipping him a gun.

Anyway, I don't think a five round magazine is restricted in any way, so regardless of above, you're probably fine.

I emailed him and told him I would require his Firearms ID or LTC.
He emails me back, "Thank You."
That was it. He never bid on it.
    Thank you for your help.
