got model 12 38 spcl with alum frame steel cylinder and bbl no model stamp inside crane, serial # on frame bottom of grip c406xxx which dates it to 1958-59. my question is , does this make it a model 12-1 or a pre model 12 ( M&P airweight) or a transition, 2" bbl; 6 shot and diamond checkered walnut squarebutt grips numbered to gun. 31st edition of blue book gun values only list model 12 and m&p airweight. m&p airweight made 1951-57. makes a difference in value model 12 98% 450 and 98% 950( m&p airweight) thanks for any help CORRECTION serial is C406xxx i have thread also on s&w airweight for more info just puzzles me but from my measurments bbl closer to 1 7/8" very faint ring around cylinder , i am at deer camp right now and will get pics up soon as i get back thanks very much guys http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr19/marcus396/fi10.jpg
