We just had a Remington New model Army taken on trade. All the research shows this model to be a cap and ball, but this one has been converted. Does anyone know if this is a rimfire or centerfire, and the caliber. I know it started out as a .44 cal.Here is the auction #

Careful measurement is in order. I think I have a few original specimens of the cases somewhere in my stuff. Very thin and small rims.
The more I google about Remington cartridge conversions, the more confused I get. Flayderman says they were converted to .46 Rimfire, .44 or .45 Centerfire. Frankford Arsenal made a .44 Centerfire meant for use in both Colt and Remington conversions.
The .46 rimfire conversions were five shooters.
