Locked threads

Pardon my ignorance, but I see quite a few good threads that are locked, while others seem to go on and on. Why are these threads locked?

    I see there are six locked threads on this first page, I read the threads and can't see why they were locked.

    Can someone tell me what rules were violated?

    Posts on this forum are generally locked after 10 responses. Reason for that is, in most cases that should be enough to answer the original poster's question, & anything further is likely to be in the realm of "general discussion".

    And, sticky's are locked because no comment is necessary.
