#4 mk1 enfield

hi, have a enfield #4 mk1, numbers match on receiver, bolt and stock but there are no markings anywhere on wristguard, does'nt look like wristguard has been ground down or anything, any reason for no markings on wristguard, thanks

    Most No. 4's have the markings on the side of the receiver, on the side opposite the bolt handle. If your rifle was FTR'ed (Arsenal Rebuilt) sometimes markings are removed at that time, especially in India. The area you describe, more often than not, will be free of markings, they are on the receiver flat instead.

    thank you sir, on left side of receiver it says
    no4 mk1 then a (F) under that is the date 8/48 then sereal number
    what does the f mean

    It was reworked/rebuilt at the Royal Ordnance factory "Fazakerley" in Liverpool.
