Illinois Handgun Deer Hunters - New Law?

Sometime in the last year, I am pretty sure that I read that the DNR (or state legislature) had a new law that would allow the use/carry of a handgun while hunting in the regular firearm season. Is this true & if so when does it take effect?

Illinois currently has a handgun season. I've too have heard that they are trying to pass through allowing handgun hunters to hunt during regular gun season. Looks like it hasn't passed yet:

The bill you are referring to is Illinois HB 1096. It has been approved in both chambers of the Legislature and is now on the Governor's desk. It will be interesting to see what Blago does.... Here are a few links:

Blowgo, will probably not want to seem progun/hunting & won't sign it. That's ok because, I believe it will become law after 6 months after him not signing it.
