If that thing weighs 646lbs.,why is it so stiff lookin'[?]

I mean,a catfish that size would be layin' there, belly all flattened out, lookin' like a beached whale, right[?]

More like Holy Catfish! The pic dosen't look very convincing to me, for a cat that size it's belly should be sread out on the ground. If it is real I wonder what they used for bait?

It very well could be real. This from a 2003 National Geographic article.

"Called Pla Buek in Thai, the giant catfish can weigh as much as 650 pounds (300 kilograms) and measure up to 10 feet (3 meters) in length. They are the largest scaleless freshwater fish in the world."

These catfish do exist have them in my fish lexicons. I think the fish was frozen and I'll bet the skin would make nice leather.

These fish may well exist but I don't think this is one of them. Like BW said, if you laid one that big out its belly would be spread out big time. The tail would not support itself like that. I think it is fake.

It looks like a "mounted" fish.

As you know the "mounted" fishes are but a fiberglass replica from the original, from which a mold was made.

If you look at that fish (upside up) it has the typical shape of a mounted/stuffed fish.

Those fish taxidermists can get very "creative" sometimes with your catch. Can you trust it? Possibly not.

In-Fisherman catfish guide 2005, available at you local Wal-Mart, has an article on the Mekong catfish. Its ugly, but it would be a heck of a fight I bet.

Add 300 pounds of coleslaw, 700 pounds of French fries, 225 pounds of hushpuppies, and 400 gallons of sweet tea.
    Dubya, are you listening?
