Guns Don't Kill People...

Doctors:

(A) The number of doctors in the U.S. is 700,000

(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000

(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 17.14%

***Statistics courtesy of the U.S.Dept of Health & Human Services

Guns:

(A) The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000 (yes that's 80
million)

(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is
1,500

(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.001875%

***Statistics courtesy of the FBI

So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous
than gun owners.

Remember, guns don't kill people, doctors do.

FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE
DOCTOR.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors
before this gets completely out of hand!!!

Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.

...Pit bulls do, although I think it was probably the two Pomeranians and the cat. See story.

Nearly 1,000 years ago, a young Gaelic man came to a violent end
among the dispersed farmsteads of northwestern Ireland.

This, we know, thanks to a 215-year-old tree and a hearty Irish wind.

    WPTV-tree-skeleton-1_1442323078950_23980800_ver1.0_320_240.jpg

The young man's remains were discovered tangled in the roots of the tree
when it blew over sometime before May near Collooney in County Sligo, Ireland.
That's when an archaeologist hired by Ireland's National Monuments Service
    excavated the remains.

The lower leg bones remained in the grave,
but the upper part of the body was tangled up in the roots,
according to Marion Dowd of Sligo-Leitrim Archaeological Services.

    150915072025-02-tree-skeleton-ireland-large-169.jpg

Radiocarbon dating suggests the remains date back to the early medieval period,
from 1030 to 1200. The man, who appeared to be about 17 to 20 years old,
had what seem to be knife injuries to the ribs and hand, Dowd said.

"We can assume that the young man came from a local Gaelic family
(because the Anglo-Norman invasion didn't occur until 1169
and our radiocarbon date suggests the burial pre-dates this),"
    Dowd told CNN by email.
"So it could be a local conflict/battle, or personal dispute,
    that resulted in his death."

It appears the man received a formal Christian burial
as his head lain to the west with the corpse lying on its back, she said.
Nothing else was found with the remains, she said.

The discovery was made in a rural area.
Records from the 19th-century suggest the presence of a church
and graveyard in the general area, Dowd said.

No traces of those remain, she said.

The skeleton could yet yield more clues.
Analysis of the remains continues, according to Dowd.

Lemme get this straight, doctors are somehow responsible for the accidental deaths of 17.4% of their patients each and every year?

    Sorry, I ain't buying it.

Not only that but they can't get their billing straight! I just spent two hours on the phone trying to find out why a claim I had back in October of 2004 has been "disallowed" twice. Well I FINALLY found out. Seems the fill in doctor I saw that day (mine was on vacation) inadvertently checked the incorrect diagnosed. I was told "the diagnosis did not match my sex type and this was why it was denied"![:0][:0][B)]

After I asked a few more questions and found out more about the diagnosis both I and the lady on the phone were laughing out loud. I told her I was prepared to come on down to the billing center to "whip it out" as proof I was "ALL MAN" if needed. Everything was all cleared up after that comment![:D][:D]

    Saved myself $154.00![;)]

This is an old joke thread thing that has been around forever. It should read 1.74 persons per doctor. Not 17%. A percentage in this context has no meaning.

    Good catch on the math.

    Point remains the same!

What if we took the number of lawyers in this country(about a zillion) divided by number of new death row inmates(not enough) to determine the avg. death row inmates per lawyer. So statistically you are 9,000 times more likely to be convicted and sentenced to death if you are represented by a lawyer.
