Here is the email I just recieved from the NRA regarding the 2nd ammendment infringment going on in N.O....

Thank you for contacting the NRA-ILA. Numerous media sources are
reporting on an apparent campaign by New Orleans city authorities to
confiscate lawfully-owned firearms from people in the city. Louisiana statute
does grant the government, during a state of emergency, broad powers in
regulating and controlling firearms.

However, we have seen not just with Hurricane Katrina, but other
similar situations, that when police are unable to control the criminal
element, people turn to the one freedom that protects all others-the Second
Amendment.

While one can certainly understand the dire predicaments of all those
affected by Hurricane Katrina, as we have learned throughout history,
campaigns to disarm the lawful do nothing to disarm the criminal. And in
truth, these restrictions make citizens less safe. Despite the valiant
efforts of many law enforcement officers and rescue workers, too many
of those left in the wake of Katrina are ultimately responsible for
their own security and safety and that of their families and loved ones;
especially when communication is virtually non-existent and police can't
be quickly summoned to respond to calls for help. At these times,
lawful gun ownership is paramount to personal safety.

Of course, the entire situation in New Orleans is constantly in flux.
But rest assured NRA is monitoring this situation very closely and will
address any activity by the government that unduly infringes upon the
rights of lawful gun owners at the appropriate time. As we learn more,
we will report to our members accordingly. In the interim, however, we
join with all Americans in offering our thoughts, prayers, and
assistance to the victims and survivors of this terrible natural disaster.

Sincerely,

Amanda Millward

You asked how my son was since his surgery. The healing process has been slow. There was a time when he said he wished he had never had the surgery because he wasn`t happy with the look. And the reaction from some of his peers was less than favorable. His cheeks looked swelled for months and the nerve damage is still slowly repairing itself. Now when he smiles his face muscles actually are begining to move and it looks like a smile. He no longer pulls the brim of his hat down to hide under which is an improvment too.
We are trying to get him a job to help boost his self esteem. He has to do something as he`s been hideing from the world too long .It`s time to move on with his life.
He will have another surgery hopefully late this year to give him support for his nose and to give him several tooth implants. He has no bone in his nose so it is flat .
Originally he was to have the second surgery a few months after the first, but now it will be a year as his next appointment to discuss it isn`t until the last of august.
Hopefully when it is all over he will like what he see`s in the mirror and will be able to live a normal life.He is such a fragile person emotionally from years of being teased and messed with as a kid.We may have overprotected him as a result of this and now at age 21 he still has alot of growing up to do. He is still a work in progress and we are hopeing for the best.
    Thanks for asking about him.

I was just curious if you knew or know Julie Abott or Michelle Stanely. They both live in Mattoon. I used to hang out with them around 8 years ago when I lived in Charleston. I dont know what made me think of them.
