got it for cheap because it's been reblued and a new barrel should make a nice deer rifle

    99F?
"a new barrel should make a nice deer rifle"
    something wrong with the barrel?
have the 99A, un-fortunately in .303 Sav which is a * to find!
up till i ran out of ammo it was my fav for deer as wel as 100 yd shoots with just the iron sites (till the eyes started getting worse)
just found a set of dies, now trying to locate brass and a good solid recipe...

From what I'm guessing it is a different barrel as there is no open sights on it serial number on the receiver dates it 1947

Nice, I like the savage lever guns!!!

That scope looks almost as big as the gun!!

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

Is it just the picture or is that barrel REALLY short?

I think it has a carbine barrel I don't know if a carbine was availble in 1947 who ever reworked it done a very good job the action is slick as butter

That will make a real nice deer rifle. Good price you paid for it too. You'll like the .300 Sav's performance for deer.

I have a special place in my heart for carbines and short barreled rifles. I really want a 99 (and will get one eventually), great buy!!
