Just went to Paul Harvey.com. Site says NOTHING about PAUL being dead. It DOES, however, list condolences for Lynn "Angel" Harvey, wife of Paul. Still VERY sad

RIP Paul, you certainly spoke for all of us citizens in America. Your voice will be missed here. I started listening to him in the mid-1950's in Colorado Springs while attending CC there. That seems like a lifetime ago. So,I now realize how you have been broadcasting the news.

This from a guy who has the Canadian national symbol in his sig line.

Anyway, after reading your unsubstantiated post, I googled "Paul Harvey+anti-gun" and got more hits attributing him to being anti-gun control than anti-gun.

I'm not done looking. I'm sure there are others, more adept than me at ferreting out this information. But I just liked the irony of your post coupled with the maple leaf.

    Well, if you say so.

I apologize for the acerbic tone of my post, then, gunpaq.

I did just realize, by way of another thread, that your wife is Canadian.

    That explains the flag.

My wife is of Mexican ancestry, but I'm not going to put that flag in my sig line. Not on GunBroker, anyway.

Every couple of years, when I have concert tickets or something fun like that to give away on my morning show, I'll play a game called "Dead?...or Canadian?"

I'm always amazed to find out how many people think Leon Trotsky was Canadian.

My wife, from Germany and who obtained American citizenship, would fly the American flag and the German flag on Veteran's Day in honor of our American vets and in honor of her brothers. She had questions from neighbors and not one complained but thought it was a decent thing to do.

Be proud of your wife's heritage--it makes her her.

    Thanks for your support.

But then I'd have to add the Irish flag as well.

It's an interesting mix of nationalities.

Don't confuse the Canadian people and with their government.

    Google his broadcasts in 1972.

Well, it was that the Canadian Government is far more anti gun than Paul Harvey, but since it was pointed out that your wife is Canadian, I understand the sig line.

In case the first apology got past you in this thread, I'll say it again.

Sorry for the tone of the post.

Cripes, is there NO topic this board cannot turn into acerbity and vitriol? Grow the F up, people.

Paul Harvey: patriot, conservative and American. With (as we radio types would say) a great set of pipes. Goodbye, friend.
    I may be a bit crazy - but I didn't drive myself.

    Good post.

So the guy lost his fervor for hunting. I don't think that necessarily makes him anti-gun, or even anti-hunting, for that matter.

And I do very much hope that Canadian people aren't as anti gun as their government.
As I hope the world sees us as not necessarily represented by our government.

That does not mean he was anti gun only tired of hunting. I know many people that have tired of hunting as it does nothing for them anymore. They are still pro-gun. Don

    No offense taken.

I was in Ontario when our president visited. Our press and TV coverage only showed him walking on water and the multitudes falling in awe at his feet. What was not shown here was the public protests from other Canadians and the Nazi like security that Obama demanded for his visit including the disarming of the Royal Mounted Police honor guard.

Like the US the urban areas are quite liberal and dictate politics and policy but the rest of the country is no different than our heartland. I am often asked by Canadians why did we commit suicide by electing Obama. They cannot understand why we gave our freedom away.

Persinally I like Paul Harvey and always tuned in his broadcast when I could.

Paul Harvey had several broadcasts concerning his negative feeling about hunting and guns during the early seventies. He was a hunter and a gun owner during those negative comments on his broadcasts. Whether or not he was an activist, I do not know. Unfortunately his comments were championed by many anti-hunting and anti-gun groups of the day.
