Ever seen a polished blued M1 Garand? I wonder if it would look better than parkerizing.

    I can't even IMAGINE one! I'm sure
there are a few out there! Anyone
    have a photo? I suppose I could
wake up my Photo Shop and get
it busy, but that would be
    cheating!

Thanks for the totally alien idea!

I have seen them, but usually they are commemoratives.

It'd be blasphemous under normal circumstances, but a polished/blued Garand sounds like a pretty cool honor guard rifle.

I think, But I am not sure because I have not personally seen it, but That there were some cowboys who starred in Brokeback Mountain that were seen with blued Garands. Is that true?

    gbeggrow-
Nice Garand[8D] Thats the way a Garand is supposed to look.

I would worry about someone who wanted a blued Garand. Where would it stop? Next thing you know they would want to do would be some fancy engraving. Then a jeweled bolt.

Blueing and engraving have their place and it aint on a Garand.

    ROFL... I've seen a chrome m1 garand (I think it was actually industrial hard chromed)...I've seen a gold plated m1 garand (don't ask)...but I don't think I've ever seen a polished & blued one.

Yea, I don't think I'm going to blue it. I'm just going to get it reparked.

What about getting one of those new DuraCoat finishes from lauercustom weaponry? http://www.lauerweaponry.com/
Maybe in new digital desert camo..

A Friend of mine loved Garands so much he insisted on even hunting with his.

He customized one for an Alaskan hunt that would have him around salt water and expected a lot of rain also.

Among his customizations was to get all the metal parts coated in some type of black teflon that resembled a black park look. Also had the barrel shortened.
That was one cool customized Garand and almost impervious to the weather.
