LATEST: Two underage boys accused of setting Lee County brush fires
LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. - Two boys, ages 10 & 12 have been arrested for allegedly setting a series of weekend brush fires that have destroyed or damaged more than two dozen homes and burned more than 1,500 acres in southwest Florida.
Each boy was charged with intentional and reckless burning of land.
Lee County authorities are also seeking a third juvenile.
Firefighters have the major blaze 75 percent contained this afternoon but are still worried that wind and rising temperatures could stoke hot spots. Four smaller fires were contained yesterday.
Exactly how many homes were destroyed was not immediately clear. No one was injured.
