what are you cleaning off? Dust or rust? or corrosion?
It makes a difference depending on what type of cleaning.

put a scratch or anything on them and they're ruined. i always just use a light coat of oil, and stored them in a roll or knife case so the oil wouldn't soak into the box. gotta keep that box looking good too [8D]

If they have never been out of the box, how do you know they need cleaning?

If they have never been out of the box they should not need cleaning. Leave them in the boxs.

I use SEMICHROME Polish and lots of rubbing on knives that need polished.

What I meant, was my grandfather had a stroke and he has kept them in his store room. It has a light film on all of them. They are SHRADE knives, complete with the sheaths. Just wanted to keep them for my son and and grandson. I would appreciate the help and as far as the smart * that respond, please don't respond.
