The pipes don't blow out because peak combustion pressure (aprox 1800 psi) drops to approx 100 psi when before the exhaust valve opens.

All turbos (8) of them and the entire exhaust system glowing red, parts sometimes glow orange.
tested a Cat 3516 years ago without a muffler. At full load we had a 2' blue flame standing on the "flower pot" The flower pot being the cast iron manifold, turbos to the sides and the 16" exhaust pipe out the top.
