First one I have had in my hands. Sorta reminds me of a Glock, but different. Are they good pistols? The factory warranty service is stellar.

Just out of curiosity, what do they give you to carry for a duty gun. They gave our state police the 45 GAP Glocks that explode in their face. Our local county boys carry a 4 1/4" version of the 4506.
I was brought up on revolvers, so the trigger doesn't bother me.
It has never jammed. I use it concealed whenever I go out.

I can't abide an unattractive handgun.
It's not a Wilson 1911. Then again, it costs about a tenth of a Wilson 1911. For what I bought it for--a nightstand gun--it does everything I need.
A good gun goes bang every time the trigger is pulled, doesn't jam, and is reasonably accurate. By those standards, its a good gun.
Glock 17, 2"
Sig 226, 1.7"
HK USP, 1.8"
Beretta 92FS, 2"
Ruger P89, 2.3"
S&W SW9VE Sigma, 7"
All guns were shot at the same range with WWB, my shooting was not the cause of the accuracy split. Yes the Sigma went off every time the trigger was pulled, but the result after the bang was quite disapointing.

I carry a SIG P229 in .40 caliber. Could have had a P226, but I like the size and feel of the P229 better.

No, thanks. I don't intend to use this pistol, nor am I in the market to buy one. It is for sale.
The M&P has some neat features, but I don't care for plastic as a structural part of a firearm.
My carry gun I rely on daily is the P229. Once I no longer have to burden myself with a double action pistol and the .40 caliber round, my daily carry gun will be one of my 1911 pistols, either Colt or Springfield.
I say a big AMEN to that. There is just something about that slow, big, heavy chunk of lead !
The hard trigger pull makes it extremely difficult to shoot accurately, but its reliable and won't fall apart.
For its cost, its a reasonable choice, and I'd still pick this gun over any of the various "junk" guns.

What is it about the Sig that you like?? I never liked the long trigger pull on them. I've carried a Glock 35 for duty, and I like the M&P for it's feel and reliability. Right now our dept issues Springfiled 1911's and of course we can carry our own 1911's or just about anything we want, as long as it meets dept standards and you can qualify on it.
I didn't choose the SIG. The PD bought and issued them. I had a choice among the P229, P226, or P2340. Of the three available, I like the P229 best.
I have taken to carrying the SIG all the time now. I used to carry my Colt Pony off-duty, but it is now relegated to backup only. I figured that if I have to shoot someone, he will need shooting just as hard off-duty as on-duty. If I feel rogue-ish, I sometimes carry a 1911 in violation of PD policy.
But, to answer your question, what I do like about SIGs is they work all the time, and are typically German over-engineered. They are built like anvils, and dead-solid reliable, dirty or clean, oiled or dry.
