She actually said in an interview she betrayed American forces. Amazing.

Here is the link.

You all can start loving Jane again...

    http://wonderwall.msn.com/movies/jane-fonda-regrets-missile-picture-1692394.story

    WENN, Tuesday, July 10, 2012, 8:06am (PDT)

Jane Fonda will always regret the controversial 1972 photograph showing her sitting on a missile launcher aimed at U.S. soldiers, insisting she has "paid heavily" for the infamous image.

The veteran actress caused outrage in the U.S. and earned the nickname 'Hanoi Jane' when she was snapped sitting on an anti-aircraft battery in Hanoi during the Vietnam War.

Fonda admits the backlash hit her hard and has affected her ever since, and she will always chastise herself for the image.

"I haven't spoken at an anti-war rally in 34 years because I've been afraid that because of the lies that have been, and continue to be spread about me in that [Vietnam] war-that they would be used to hurt this new anti-war movement. But silence is no longer an option... I'm so sad that we didn't learn from the mistakes of the Vietnam War: blindness to the realities on the ground, hubris and arrogance in dealing with a people and culture far older than we are, and that we understand so little." -the traitorous Hanoi Jane Fonda ++ "Those people who would try to undermine [Jane Fonda's] credibility will fail. We welcome her back to the peace community." -Rep. Maxine Waters ++ Re: Hanoi Jane: "[Fonda was] a traitor to our country in Vietnam... [As a result of her anti-war activism] we remained behind bars longer. She aided and abetted the enemy. She encouraged troops to desert. She betrayed us in Vietnam, and here she is betraying us again." -Mike Benge, a POW in Vietnam for five years

I think there is a big difference between being a traitor and a fool....
Jane is no more a traitor than a lot of our own neighbors who showed nothing but disrespect to our boys during that so called Police Action... I was embarassed by the actions of my fellow Americans at the time... And now...
Iraq... Same BS. I didn't like the decision to go, but I see little option but to stay and win this thing. If we show Yellow to these terrorist SOB's now we'll never even have a chance to be rid of them... Personally I see a nuke in the future the Middle-East and just maybe for us too if we let up on these Jihad preaching Toran Thumpers.

Most Americans who protested the Vietnam war didn't travel to Hanoi and hob-nob with the enemy. In my opinion this act makes her a traitor to her country.

Wherever Hanoi Jane is buried they will have to post a 24 hour guard because there will be a long line waiting to wee on her grave.

tobefree, it is possible to be both a fool and a traitor at the same time. Hanoi Jane pulled it off.

Ironrifle, I expect Hanoi Jane to outlive me. It is requested that you take a double piss in my memory.

Whoever buries her needs to take extreme measures to protect her remains, or they will be scattered all over the place. Some people might pay handsomely for just a splinter or scrapping of one of her bones. Just imagine the money someone would pay to see one of her arm or leg bones, much less her skull.

To equate the circumstances of Vietnam with Iraq as similar continues to show her lack of intelligence. Iraq has a history of one leader/government after another for several generations. The US and the world community for that matter was glad to leave Saddam alone as long as he kept Iraq stable- however he showed that his ambitions included expansion of his empire and disruption of those beyond his grasp. since it is clear that he had no intention of backing off, the only alternative was to remove him. In so doing, the area was destablized, and the various factions have been vying for control. So now we are doing what we can to develop a stable government that has no intentions of resuming Saddams behaviors. I think that gains can best be obtained by replacing the US soldiers/Marines with Iraqi soldiers/police as soon as possible, which I understand is what the US is presently trying to do. So where's the problem?

I quit watching Fonda's movies about 38 years ago. I refuse to watch any of Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, etc, etc movies. They should have left Tim Robbins in Shawshank Prison. I have passed this opinion on to more than a few people.

I don't have a problem with political dissenters per say because it's part of the process and I don't see public dissent with our government's policies as necessarily being traitorous. In some cases, it's actually helped create an on-going awareness and dialogue among the greater population. Government is not always right and hopefully we learn from our mistakes.

However, strong and vocal comments and actions that demonstrate a lack of support for our Country's soldiers and that showcase in-your-face photo-ops with the enemy who are shooting AT our soldiers are IMO at the very least treacherous if not actually treasonous.

Our soldiers - especially those in harm's way - should never be positioned as fulcrums on which to lever public or world opinion of our government's policies, no matter how good or bad those policies are and no matter how brilliant or inept our politicians may be.

But wait, El Muerto Monkey claimed that someone posted here that Vietnam was now considered a US victory! Of course I have not been able to verify that and one must consider the source.

No matter how much we agree or disagree on IRAQ, Bush, Cheney or anything else --- it seems we all agree that Hanoi/Jihad Jane is a worthless POS!
