Missouri's is - "Salus populi suprema lex esto " - The welfare of the people shall be the supreme law."

To that, I fall back on the State Slogan - "Show Me!"[;)]

The state motto of Florida is "In God We Trust,"

"In God We Trust" was adopted as the official state motto in the 2006 Florida Legislative Session by the enactment of Chapter 2006-282, Laws of Florida. You can read the law online by visiting the Florida Department of State website at http://election.dos.state.fl.us/laws/06laws/ch_2006-282.pdf.

    Thank God!

When I first read it, this is what I saw.

Missouri's is - "Salus populi suprema lex esto " - The welfare people shall be the supreme law."

And I thought, "That can't be right. That's Louisiana's motto"

    Michigan:

"Si quaeris peninsulam amoenam, circum spice" -If you are seeking a amenable peninsula, look around you.

A little understated for my liking, but what do I know.

    Delaware -

    The First State
    The Blue Hen State
    The Diamond State

    Those were free ...

A few years back we (the taxpayers) paid a consulting firm upwards of $500,000 for a new State "Brand" at the request of our current Governor Ruth Ann Minner. So, what did we get ?

The Maine state motto is Dirigo; meaning "I Lead".

Maine became a state on March 15, 1820 and held its first legislative session from May 23 to June 28, 1820; during which session the motto was selected.

    That ain't "They" anymore, Slick.

    It's "we" now.[:D]

And "we" don't all hate Texans. I have lots of friends and family in Texas. Kinky Friedman, Pat Green and Stubb's BBQ sauce are all from Texas, so what's not to like?

    Illinois: "State sovereignty, national union"

Sounds like a good socialistic motto.

Might as well state "Conformity and safety through a strong government."
