We cannot win the war on drug abuse by spending vast amounts of money to investigate, arrest, and imprison the dealers, smugglers, and users and trampling over a lot of civil rights in the process. It just won't work. As long as the demand is there, people will step up to supply it and make profit.

Let people raise their own marijuana, opium poppies, and coca for their own use.

I think it could be won with less then 30,000 men.

but it would need to be fought at the source, which is central and south america.

but this aint about winning, it is about money and power.

unwinnable wars are the best kind in that reguard.. Endless spending, endless curtailing of rights of all kinds in the name of the war on (insert here: inanimate-object/frailty-of-the-human-condition).

Hang the traitors who passed the prohibition laws...

Hang the traitors that pass laws to prop up the evil prescription drug companies...

Hang the traitors that support foreign drug gangs...

The U.S. federal government spent over $15 billion dollars in 2010 on the War on Drugs, at a rate of about $500 per second. See the link above for the running total for this year.

You're correct about dealing with the problem at the source, but the issue is the demand, not the supply. For every grower, dealer and smuggler caught and incarcerated 2 or more others will step up to take their place.

Allow people to grow their own for their own use and the demand for imported/smuggled drugs will drop, the price goes way down, and suddenly it's not worth the risk to nearly so many people.

Those devils in Washington DC want all the cocaine for themselves, they can't allow their slaves to use it freely.
