Screaming kids,..............

Went out to eat for the first time in months last night.
Yes,.....I went to Chili's, but that's not the point.[:D]

Before I say what I intend to say, please realize that I do NOT hate kids. Granted, I have none of my own, but that's simply the way my life worked out and has nothing to do with disliking children.

Anyway,.....get seated in a booth with the woman I am currently seeing and everything is fine.
Within 5 minutes, in comes a couple with 2 children, and a friend of theirs it appeared that was female. They get seated right behind us.

Immediately the kid that looked about 5 years old started crawling over the booth and trying to grab my hair. I turned around and gave him a dirty look.

After that Dameon starts yelling at the top of his lungs something I couldn't make out. At this point the other one that appeared about 2 years old starts to cry at the top of it's lungs.

The two women continue to talk as if nothing is happening, and the 'father' just sits there drinking his beer.
Everyone in the local area is staring at them, but nobody said anything. Finally I couldn't take it anymore, and got up and asked them if they could control their children.

The husband turned away from me, but the wife told me quite clearly to go screw myself,....."You child hater!"

Fortunately I saw my old pal Tony was still the manager and he moved us to the opposite side of the restaurant. I used to do work for a number of these restaurants years ago.

He then went back and talked to the group about the noise, and controlling their children.

Guess it ticked them off, as they got up and left. As the fat b***h got to the front door she saw me again, and yelled out f*** you loud enough for the whole place to hear it.

I don't understand where these types of people come from, and what they expect other people to do when they spoil an evening out for other folks.

The 'man' never said a word, nor made eye contact with me,.....he also never said a word to his fat wife. How pathetic is that?

Am I the only one that feels this way about this type of behavior?

I guess we simply live in this kind of society. It will be a long time before I go out to eat again. Won't bother me much as I don't care for it anyway. Don't much care for spending money to have something like this happen.[xx(]

So you ratted on them to the manager. Why didn't you just get up and move?

You are NOT the only one who feels that way. I would have ratted them out too. You probably handled it better than I would have. It must have been hillbilly night at Chili's.

As one who remembers how difficult it could be to control my own when they were that age, I definitely sympathize with you. My wife and I would expend great effort to ensure that ours were kept from doing those things as much as possible, and it bothered me immensely when we saw others who didn't do anything. Still does.

So you just tolerate rude behavior?

I bet you don't mind loud talking and cell phones ringing at a movie or worst yet at a funeral.

It was not his place to have to move. It was his place to tell the rude SOB's to control their out of control kids.

Are you sure you are not a racist too?

I don't hate children - just yours, at this particular moment, would have been my responce............perhaps with a few frills and apt observations. [;)]

Mr.P,.....I have patience with kids, but as you could surely make out, this was not a family that was even trying.

I really loved the foul mouth on this fat pig of a mother as well. Never lost my temper at all, but I was the only one to say anything to them.

Would your wife yell "F*** you" after being asked to leave a restaurant? I seriously doubt it.

Hi my name is David and I am not a child hater. [8D]

I agree kids should be under control or at home.

Last July for my birthday my wife and daughter took me out to eat. I always sit in a booth. We had a couple of small children come sit at the booth behind us. One kid sat on each side by what apperaed to be a parent. The little girl behind me stood up and said Hi to me. I said hi back, she then proceeds to pull my hair. I ignored this for a bit then told her to stop that. The dad made snorting sounds as if I had been rude or hateful. I had been neither. I then here the dad telling the mom how mean I was, well for me that was it. I started to get up and my wife tells me to let it go. I tried I really did. The cute little girl reached over the booth one more time, I avoided her grasp but I was done with this stuff. I leaned back and told Mr Daddy if she pulls my hair one more time I will pull yours. My daughter started to giggle and that was it we all started laughing but you know what that guy kept his kid from reaching over the booth again.

Speaking for myself if I see they are trying to keep the kids under control then I can let alot go, its the folks who just sit and ignore it because little Bobby has never been told no that gets to me real quick.

I think you did fine, there's always going to be some kind of a reprisal when one does something to discipline another.

We just cann't properly discipline the offspring these days. LAws.

I see those similar ignorant 'young' parents at work all the time.
95% of the time I let it go, but when it gets to be too much for me or the kid runs into me OR several floor displays w/a trainer cart then a 'warm conversation' ensues w/an immediate retell to the boss.

In the 'old days' my old man may have issued corporal punishment on the spot or if he was really topped off save it for when we got home (always the worst). Usually the worst we got was escourted back out to the car, lock in and told not to move (yeah, right).

Anyone know how much white oak hurts? after a while it started to tickle a bit.[:0]

About the only place I will abide unruly children is an airplane when I don't have a choice. Any other place I simply relocate or leave. While I don't make it a point to "rat them out", I don't hold my tongue if asked why I'm leaving or want to move.

I can't stand unruly children and find parents that can't control their kids to be contemptible.

I will admit it. I HATE children who can't behave themselves. Well mannered children are fine.

It's for this type of situation that I think corporal punishment very much has a place, even in modern society....

My son knows when he is in public, he best be on his best behavior. Otherwise, we make a trip to the men's room and have a discussion. Any non sense after that, we leave. There is nothing worse than trying to have a nice quiet dinner, and have some little brat ruin it for you.

It's even worse, when it's obnoxious adults. We went to a local Chinese place to eat a few weeks ago, it was the adults screwing everything up. There was a hispanic lady yapping on a nextel, no talking but non stop yelling in the phone in spanish. After about 10 minutes of the nextel beep, and the blasting spanish. I had enough, and told the waiter to give her our bill. If she was gonna screw our dinner up, the least she could do was pay for it. The lady did not find it amusing, nor did her husband. He did apologize, but she could have cared less. Nope they didn't pay, but we did have a peaceful finish to dinner.

Sure wish cell phone jammers were legal here. That would be a really useful tool in theaters and restaurants. Recently, I was in a very nice restaurant and witnessed a crying shame. A nice looking middle aged couple having dinner together at a table for two. Only thing, BOTH were on cell phones all through their entire meal talking to someone else. Now that's pitiful.
Next time I visit Mexico (Jan) I plan to check in their electronic shops. I know they use them down there. You can also get them via internet. I wouldn't turn it on and leave it on and create a dangerous situation blocking emergency calls. Just turn it on long enough to disconnect obnoxious SOB's and turn it off again. I figure if you do it several times, they will just assume the building has poor reception and quit trying. [:D]

I wouldn't put up with it either. I raised 2 and them acting out anywhere in public was not an option. we used to get compliments from strangers and taechers on their good behavier and I always replied " thank you, I invested a lot of beatings in them". they'd laugh but it was true. by beating I mean just enough to bring tears w/o leaving a mark.

my biggest child rearing pet peeve is when the parent makes the excuse "he/she is having a bad day" at which I come back with "as adults we all have a bad day every now and then but nobody's going to put up with us whining or acting out because of it so you need to teach that lesson to your child".

Restaurants have TVs all over the place. The employees have to stop what they are doing and go sing/clap happy birthday to some diner. Cell phones are constantly going off. A kid or two crying or heaven forbid, laughing and having fun. Y'all need to learn to cook and stay the hell home. Don

"We have the right to refuse service to anyone that has been on the Jerry Springer Show".

    Marc,

    You did the right thing.

I assume you asked them nicely.

After that did not work, you took it up the chain of command.

A week or so ago at a store there was a 5,6 yr oldman-child hollering at and hitting his Mother, Grandmother, and baby sister.

I purposefully walked past them in the aisle and said loud enough for all of them to hear (looking the boy in the eye) "That boyy needs a spanking".

    Grandmother said a loud "Amen".

The Mother looked at the floor.

A big part of the problem is one of the long list of what is wrong with our Country.

I have shared a few other times on here about my Bride's own sister warned us that she might have to turn us in if we spanked our children while visiting her her and her family.

My 3 year old son can be a handful sometimes, if we are in public and he gets loud I start with a firm speach, if that doesn't work I take him outside allowing my wife, daughter, and the rest of the place to enjoy themselves.

It irrates me to see parents let their kids run wild at the expense of everyone else's evening, I make sure I am not allowing my kids to ruin someone else's evening.

I have 2 boys age 4 and 6. They know that if we are going out in public what is expected of them. They do have their bad days if we are gone out for awhile, But I can see it coming and will take them to the car for a 20 minute nap. My wife and I are frequently complemented on their behavior.

Most parents are afraid to disapline their kids. If they start at a younger age they wouldn't have any problems
