Not what I expected.

Took this rather beat up H&R Sportsman to the range today. Didn't expect match grade accuracy from a medium quality pistol that was made 60 years ago and is not in great condition.

That'll teach me to make assumptions.

    Those old H&R's are good shooters, and under-rated IMO.

    Never assume anything!
    I've seen a lot of people pooh, pooh H&R's as cheap handguns.
    There were some H&R models that were world class shooters.
    The USRA single shot, the model 777 Ultra Sportsman, and the model 196 Eureka Sportsman, were factory built competition pieces from the 1938-1940 era.
    My model 777 shoots better than I can by far, and in capable hands, I would put it up against any revolver.
    Glad you were impressed with your new purchase.
    It may not be as pretty as many of the stuff you post here, but the beauty of the early Sportsman models is the one hole groups!
