The Nash County Captain called and told Mandy there was nothing his department could do to help her. He told her everything was out of his jurisdiction. They only pawned 3 things and it was the 3 cheapest things.[:(]

My daughter lives in Franklin county and they pawned the stuff in Halifax county not Greenville like i thought.

So my daughters friends can not make them do their job.

Franklin countys deputys have not contacted her since Friday if it was not for another county finding it she would not even have anything back.

I have a MRI on my head Thursday checking for a tumor on my pituitary gland. I have to take my Mom to the doctor tomorrow so Friday i am going to Halifax county and tell the deputy i am going to the guys house and look for my stuff if he wants to go he is more than welcome.

I will tell Halifax county that they can call Nash county and talk to the captain.

It sucks that Franklin county deputys will not do jack crap. What makes it worse is the dude lives in the worst part of the hood. Where no white people ever go.

Nash county made a bad mistake my daughter has a picture of the guy and his address. My friend and i will be going Friday. Its up to the deputys if they want to go.

The one guy that is willing to work has no jurisdiction and told my daughter that he can not make them other countys do anything.[:(]

Maybe it's time to go on the offensive.
Call the local TV news, write letters to the editor of the local paper. Post signs around the area. Become a big, loud pain in their butt until someone takes action.

But I am NOT certain that going to the bad guy's place and helping yourself will get the end results you really want. In my experience, criminals know how to work/avoid the system. Keep on the correct side of the law, even if you're the only one there.

Let me know where to send the cake and file. [;)] Other then that, I think your stupid and your gonna get hurt. I say that as a friend and know you would tell me the same thing Dave. Let the cops handle it or a friend that is in better health. You really want to go get hurt???? They don't go at it one on one and they sure as hell have firearms. JMHO, from a friend to a friend. So your daughter had items stolen in Franklin Co, and pawned in Halifax Co? And the suspect lives in Nash Co?

How we would handle that here, is there would be a theft report in Franklin. Once the pawn shop in Halifax is notified the items were stolen, they'd put a hold on them and report the fraud to Halifax. Here in VA it is a crime, obtain money by false pretense or swindle to knowingly pawn stolen property. The pawn shop would be the victim, because they are out the money, and the item.

Once warrants are issued of the offenses then Nash would go and pick up the suspect.

Is the value of the items stolen a felony? If so then Franklin's investigations unit should handle that investigation, not a road deputy. Your daughter needs to go to the Sheriff's office and request to talk to an investigator. Do they have a facebook page? she should ask them publically for help on the fb? That puts some public pressure on them.

Just remember, honey catches more flies than vinegar.

BTW it is not wise to take the law into your own hands. Getting yourself into a bad situation or getting yourself shot over replaceable property is just not worth it. Ego or no ego.

The amount of things stolen is about 5,000 dollars. So i am pretty sure that is a felony.

No one called her again today.

Nash county said there was nothing they could do. They looked online and found 3 things was hers and he put a hold on it.

Nash county is on the job but they can not do anything because the things were stolen if Franklin county pawned in Pitt county and the thief lives in Halifax county.

The bad thing is the longer it takes to catch the thief the more things he is going to have sold.[:(]

    Pure BS.

If crimes are felony's. It is a state law and enforceable by any law enforcement personal.

    County lines are immaterial.

What are your citizens arrest laws?

Who do you hand them off to once you arrest them?

As 1BigGuy has said felon knows how to work the system. Do not get Caught up in being the felon. Justice will prevail, give it time, they have a list a mile long.

Being of help should help the investigation.
My thought is if I would decide to get even I would not even talk to others much less a forum.

What will happen is they will catch then release because the machine does not have the space needed to incarcerate him.

Small claims court, judgment, then chase down for the rest of your life for the money.

Good Luck but I am afraid that it will be a Life lesson....
