What would have happened if.............

The First World war had not been fought?

If it was fought, the US had stayed out and Germany had won in Europe?

I think our lives would be completely different with a LOT more personal freedom with much less Federal Government. We would have prosperous Citizen centered States, lower taxes and a half-starved Federal Government that served the Common Good by keeping out of States Rights while protecting individual rights and our Nations shores.

What say you???

We would be overrun with more refugees than we could have handled back then. The country would have turned into a third world poophole.

The south didn't have the means or know how to beat the north

If the Austro-Hungarian Empire had won, there would have been no Treaty of Versailles, no Hitler, and no Holocaust.

Eventually the Soviet Union and Europe would have gone to war, probably about 1926, as Lenin and Stalin wanted Europe. The Soviets would have lost. [;)]

The US could have sat that one out.

No Hitler is what I'm thinking. I'd think Europe would've been hodge podge map like what Russia properties looked like in the '50s. The split would've been interesting.

    Without a 1st world war, there probably wouldn't have been a 2nd.

All of the millions who were killed would have lived and populated several more millions in proceeding generations. Our world population would be at a brink state by now.

Times would sure be different and most country's including the US would have had different leaders for such times. Perhaps Joe Kennedy Jr. would have run for president instead of his younger brother, had he not died in the war.

Lots and lots of speculation can be made for all of the what if's.
It is and always will be what it is.

Just think! If George Armstrong Custer wouldn't have died at the Little Bighorn, and became President of the United States![:0]

There would be NO Indian Casino's to play in!

The thinking folks have a pretty good idea.

Israel would probably not exist as there would have been no Holocaust.

I think the bigger question here is how might we solve the social chasm among the people that we have faced, on and off, since the Revolutionary War, in order to better control the two great evils that we have in agenda ridden politicians and hateful activists, that manipulate public thought and actions. That said, had the South won, I do believe that slavery would have ended like it had done around the world since ancient times, i.e. without a war, and sparing us the greatest bloodbath our country has ever known.
    What's next?

If the USA had not entered WWI it would have ended in a stalemate. Hitler would have never come to power in Germany. I'm not sure if the Communist would have ever come to power in Russia.

The war and the Russian Revolution of 1917 had forced the Tsar to withdraw Russia from the conflict. Marxist Russian sailors aboard the Battleship Potemkin mutinied and the Bolsheviks started open warfare in the streets.

Few Americas are aware that we, among others invaded the Soviet Union. Stalin and Khrushchev never forgot it.

Morality would be a lot different today had the US never been in WWI. The farm boys that had never been off the farm were never the same after the French women got finished with them.

How about the Spanish Flu pandemic that killed 5% of the worlds population and effected almost every place on earth?

One thing for sure is there would have been at lot more people.

    You figure:

70-100 million died of Spanish Flu

    20 Million died fighting

Then the aftermath of killing up to 1926 or so is another 10 million maybe, things like the Turks killing off the Armenians and purges in Russia and Africa.

So you are looking at 130 Million people dead due to WW1. Of course people would have dies of normal stuff but not at that rate.

The World would have been a very different place.

We'd have white slaves, indentured to their masters. OH, wait, we have those now and their masters are banks and credit card companies.[:D]

I think the failure in WWI was the terms of surrender and the Treaty of Versailles. The terms were too extreme as the Victor's rubbed Gernmany's nose in excrement. WWII was inevitable. Not that a Marshall Plan was needed but there should have been something.

I'm not sure what makes you think the government wouldn't butt into state's rights eventually anyway. The direct popular election of US Senators was a huge blow to states' rights.
I used to recruit for the NRA until they sold us down the river (again!) in Heller v. DC. See my auctions (if any) under username henryreilly
